Free savings circle tracker: Excel template and printable register
Two free templates for keeping the record of a committee, kameti, tanda, susu, chama or any rotating savings group: a spreadsheet that adds up the totals for you, and an A4 register to print and fill in by hand. Neither needs an account.
What is in the Excel tracker?
- One row per member, with their turn and payout date, for up to 20 members.
- A column for each of 20 rounds, where you enter each payment as it comes in.
- Totals that update by themselves: what each member has paid, what each round collected, and what each member still owes so far.
- The pot each round, worked out from the contribution and the number of members.
Download the Excel tracker (.xlsx)
It opens in Excel, Numbers and LibreOffice. To use it in Google Sheets, choose File, then Import, and upload the file.
What is in the printable register?
An A4 page, landscape, with space for 14 members and 12 rounds. Tick or write the amount as each member pays, and fill in who received the pot and on which date at the bottom of each round. Print one page per group, or one per year.

When is a spreadsheet not enough?
A spreadsheet works well for one organizer at a computer. It gets harder when the group runs from a phone, when members want to see the record for themselves, or when a cell is changed and nobody can tell what it said before. In Savings Circle, every entry is dated, and a correction is added as a new entry while the original stays in the history. Members don’t need to install anything, and the Free plan covers one group of up to 10 members.
Also free: the random turn-order draw, the payout calculator, the rules template and WhatsApp and SMS reminder templates.
